Message from the Founder & CEO

Hello Always Reading Family,

When passing by, The African Masai warriors greet one another by saying - "Eserian nakera".  It means, “And, how are the children?” The traditional response is, “All the children are well.” We, at Always Reading want to know – “And, how are the children?” Our children need books now more than ever. Therefore, we will continue to supply books to children in need because maintaining and advancing literacy levels is of the upmost importance. Additionally, our goal is to help children build their personal home libraries.

Please consider making a donation to support our Achieving Through Reading program.  To date, we have provided more than 50,000 free books to children who need books the most. 

Our goal this year is to grow that number three-fold. Thank you in advance for your support.

About the CEO:

Ramona Johnson, CEO & Founder of Always Reading, has more than 30 years of experience in housing and community development and has spent most of that time focused on underserved populations and minority groups.

In July 2004, Johnson was appointed by the Governor of Maryland to serve a 5-year term on the Baltimore County Board of Education.  She was reappointed in August 2009 to another 5-year term. 

She has and continues to devote her life to helping children.
